The relationship between Ef and Rii is twisted, yet I can't look away. Perhaps the fact that the relationship is about as manipulative, co-dependent, unhealthy as a relationship can get is the reason why I can't look away. I'm almost certain that Lieutenant Lintz is actually dead and that Rii is just leading Ef on.
That aside, I guess we now know what the "dream" in the manga's title refers to: the dream was the war, or to be more precise, the last night of the war when Ef and Lintz agreed to commit suicide together. Somehow, this didn't happen, and we get Bougo no Grey, a.k.a. The Grey after the Dream, where Ef falls into a trauma-ridden depression.
