Damn. Kid got killed offscreened in just a chapter.I thought our mc gonna pull out some modern ingenuity to fend off the giant cat.Not sure about the older guy too, he might get his wound infected next chapter and dies.

I like how the dad was very shaken while considering whether to not eat mito. He hasnt been born with religion. To him there's neither afterlife nor reincarnation. He knows of no other means to offer the kid a dignified disposition and for a moment, had to face the naked trauma of losing him forever.

Pal does have religion. He believes the birds are messengers of the stars = religion. Religion is just not going to church or whatever modern people have come to associate with it. MC was intelligent enough this time around to use Pal's belief int he birds and Mito's belief in the birds to talk him out of cannibalism...this time.
