Is this hierarchical thing really that important in Korea? Or is it like Brazil’s image around the world, everyone dancing samba or funk in a favela (which is only kinda true, mostly in Rio [it's a joke!])?

As for our beloved Ji Soo-won, he should realize that what he’s been doing all this time is the real support Seolhyo needs right now, not another guy who literally fights for her. She’s perfectly able to defend herself (and even him), as we’ve seen.

It's the Koreans themselves portraying it, so it's probably not a stereotype. In fact, there's probably ways in which the hierarchical structures apply that we don't even realise, since it's the kind of thing that's ingrained in their society (at least as far as I can tell from the outside).
