NL, short for "normal love" is JP slang for anything heterosexual.

In the same vein, BL (Boys' Love) and GL (Girls' Love) are actually not originally English terms, but also slang terms concocted by the Japanese. As to how these terms are used by the Japanese, BL is used for anything involving boy x boy, and GL is for anything involving girl x girl. Contrary to popular belief because of the "love" part, they also apply it to situations without love, like the all-too common BL rape and toxic GL scenarios out there.

Why are the meanings kinda different from the English words they're made out of? That's because these are examples of Wasei Eigo, "pseudo-anglicisms" or basically English words that have been borrowed/repurposed for a new meaning by the Japanese, to suit their own purposes.

Another example is TL (Teens' Love) which, despite the English name, is actually JP jargon that refers to erotic/pornographic smut exclusively aimed at women. Many JP online manga stores even have entire sections dedicated to TL.



Yes, wasei eigo is cursed and often the bane of newbie translators and MTLers alike. My favorite examples are "style" (スタイル), which actually means figure, and "bitch" (ビッチ) which actually means slut. Anytime a girl is complimented on her "style" they're actually talking about her body shape, and if a girl is called a "bitch", they are actually calling her promiscuous. Watch out for these things.

I mean I would not rate s story based on like 10 pages but I see a lot of people ratings stuff only on the art and not caring about the quality the rest and also seen a lot of people being triggered by the gb tag let alone the "dreaded" (to be read on a spooky voice) trans term...

Now after saying that If I was forced to rate it it would not be high either but I find it pointless to rate thing that fast as nothing is really established or even how they will approach any subject they could
