I suppose it explains his bitterness and disinterest (even though I'm biased against brats anyway), as well as his lukewarm acceptance of otherwise pretty shocking revelations. And his own untimely death, one of many.
One of the most interesting things here is the "cost" of his resets. Is his dead the one powering them? But the ghost doesn't seem to be losing powers; Edwin is. I actually wonder what happens if Kit fails to prevent his next death. Would they both repeat the loop? I mean, she continued to exist in the world where he died for two more years in her original timeline, so it's not like the world itself is looping back. Hmm...
