The end of Reze's arc is Ch. 52. The new season will probably the IA arc and the Gun Devil arc, which is 27 chapters. Even with shorter chapter lengths I think Part 2 currently has more content than Part 1, but with how fast fights from the previous arcs have been it's not by much lol
100% the makima arc is gonna be a movie, the only doubt I have is whether the gun demon will be included in the show or the movie

Locust having a connection to Fami and it eating up a lot of devils to get stronger makes a lot of sense why it could jab Yoru like that. That or she's pretending.
If that was all it took it would have done that a long time ago. There's a theory that since Pochita gobbled Death, creatures that multiply quickly (like insects) are now the scariest things, seeing as they don't die and keep multiplying forever. That or Fami got a major boost (no death means eternal hunger, if something eats you you're still alive, etc). In any case several weird things in this chapter point to something major having changed:

- hell is essentially empty (Denji says as much), this probably ties into the missing devils in Denji's barf from last chapter

- Yoru is weakened (her bang attacks did almost nothing to Denji and she got one-shotted by Seraphim)

- locust devil (and possibly others) is way more powerful than it should be (even taking into account Yoru is weakened, Seraphim managed to take off Denji's arm so it's strong on its own). Or maybe it's Pestilence devil rather than locust, which would maybe make it another horseman?

I don't see what else could have caused mass devil extinction and power upheavals like that other than Death being erased. Then again, I doubt death, as a central concept to human life, can stay erased for long. If it took only a few months or so for Control to reincarnate, Death could already be revived. Also Yoru did say Death's power awakens if she dies, but she didn't just die but was rather erased, so that probably doesn't come into play here.

Good chapter good stuff. Morons still gonna moan about part 1 tho

I’d like to propose a theory: The Fire Devil’s foreshadowing regarding Denji's choice hasn't actually played out yet. I believe the ultimate choice will be between Asa and Nayuta, who will be revealed to still be alive.

I don't have any evidence for this nor speculate how it's to happen, I just think this would be the only choice that would hurt Denji the most and the most "holy shit I didn't see this coming" moment.

Locusts are pretty scary, largest recorded swarm was around 10 trillion

You know, Denji makes a good point. Where are all the devils? Did Locust clear all the ones in the area?
well since they cycle between hell and earth without death most could all be stuck in earth with no way back to reincarnate in hell

It would be about 10 chapters shorter than Season 1, not to mention the first 38 chapters being in total longer, although not as busy, with quite a few more SoL elements. So far the adaptations are phenomenal, with everything except the park fight right after Denji got taken in by Makima being covered.
Let's hope the manga can maintain enough hype that we get a full adaptation.
At this point I think how well the existing adaptions do is what dictates if future stuff gets planned, and with the Reze movie being a massive success and bringing in a ton of hype, it's no surprise they announced another season already. If they can keep or exceed the same standard for the Assassins arc as the 1st season, which, if they use the 27 chapters until the Makima arc, will have a lot of cool designs and fights animated as well as the Gun Devil revealed. I think this will have tons of people roped in for more. It would also have a good cut-off for (in my opinion) another movie with the Makima arc.

Hell was basically all water as far as the eye could see, so my thought is maybe the Drowning Devil got super strong, with all of the devils in hell drowning in perpetuity without dying due to death being erased. A lot of people say they find nothing scarier than drowning, now imagine experiencing that for eternity without dying. Locust Devil being one that can (presumably) fly and avoid the water would make sense.

It could also be that hell is just empty after getting cleaned up by Lil' D, who left Denji with a shitload of devil pawns, and Yoru recruiting a bunch of devils for her war. Although I think hell being nothing but water has more significance than just being a Reze reference.

On the note of Death being erased... Asa/Yoru, CSM or the Locust Devil can't die now, besides being eaten by CSM, so he's either gonna have to puke Death back up to kill who he wants to kill, or eat them.

Plague Eight: Swarms of Locusts

... If you refuse to let them go, I will bring locusts into your country tomorrow.

They will cover the face of the ground so that it cannot be seen.

They will devour what little you have left after the hail, including every tree that is growing in your fields.

They will fill your houses and those of all your officials and all the Egyptians—something neither your fathers nor your forefathers have ever seen from the day they settled in this land till now ...
