Could we have something like the warning for pornography for groups and releases by groups that have paywalls? Like Nikatoons, Asmotoons, Art Lapsa, KDT Scans, and Rithar_Scans? And I guess good old Galaxy Degen Scans and Soseki Scans. I don't necessarily think you need to blacklist the groups, but people should be warned that they're no good groups that are in it for the money, and that people shouldn't pay for chapters. Preferably something like "if you've bought chapters from these groups, you have been scammed".

Maybe add something like "Do not pay for piracy" or "Paying for piracy is a scam". I dunno.

I do love how scanlation has evolved from fan projects by groups for manga they love to literally bootlegging/piracy

Like i get delayed releases for patreon accounts and such but literal paywalling chapters forever until a new batch of chapters comes out is basically just bootlegging for profit at this point.

I thought this is actual feature from MangaDex but it is just a suggestion.

The moment money circulates any hobby becomes ruined.

I mean, of course someone has to produce the primary item behind the hobby, but that's people with jobs, not people with hobbies.
It's when the hobbyist receives money that it all goes downhill.

Yup.

Also this type of shit also attracted attention from publishers that had no issues with sending DMCAs to the site.

And look what happened? About 25% or more manga in this site got affected due to mass DMCAs from publishers (Now that's not to say that they are the only reason why the mass DMCA on Mangadex happened).

And yet, the ones that are not affected from the mass DMCAs were these paywalling groups. Because once they got slapped with DMCA or C&Ds or whatever, they could just disband and reformed as a different group that does the same shit they did before.

It's not even about illegally translating comics.
Pokémon cards are the prime legal example of what I said.
Even if you exclude scalpers, who intentionally create scarcity to artificially inflate prices, there are people who are in it solely and only for the buying and selling of cards, regardless of any kind of collection or whatnot.
This screws over anyone who just wants to get some Pokémon cards for fun, like kids or normal people who might want to buy a pack once in a while as packs don't even reach shops, and it ripples towards collectors who don't even try to obtain cards through packs but go straight to resellers and scalpers in order to get their hands on that fancy picture to showcase.
