The word "philosophy" can be derived from the Greek words for love and knowledge. In a very raw sense, philosophy is a love of knowledge. Epistemology and the sciences exist to question what we know and why we know what we know. The humanities may all be tied together in a study and a love for humanity, but science and philosophy strive to work because of the defining human trait of wanting to know more.
I think that's what Rafal wants us to know.
