I don't really see the issue with the image you posted. The read order is normal, except for the one bubble in the centre of the page, but even that is a small bubble.

Agree. It's a bit unconventional in the paneling, but after you take a good look at how the panel works, the flow works out naturally.

This chapter though... it's just one fucking panel and author expects readers to apply the mental gymnast of jumping around out of order even between connecting bubble, not to mention flipping the reading direction from right>left he just used in fucking last page to left>right on this page unannounced...

The character trope and image switch are just cherries on top at this point

Hair just does NOT grow that fast. It's 0.2 to 0.7 inches per month according to that link. That's less than 8-1/2 inches per year on the high side.
