It's obvious that Asuma isn't dead and is somehow the second friend of the MC, you even see him working out in the flashbacks and they purposefully omit his name while screaming 'ASUMA IS TOTALLY REALLY NOT THAT BAD, GUYS WE SWEAR! IT'S AN ACT! HE'S SO COOL' every 5 minutes.
That manga started well but completely fucked up an important part of death games: The catharsis. If there's no big moment where the enemy is beaten alongside the game in between new games, it's just fucking annoying and frustrating to read.

Still I think it's a little bit of a bad decision to make Osakabe act so unambiguously evil to the rest of the group.
He could have just said "I knew Asuma would save her and would give me a chance to kill Asuma " and then the rest of the group might be uneasy but they still might not treat him like a proper enemy.
But him saying "yeah , I was trying to kill kinuyo and Asuma and I'm gonna try and kill her again right now!!! because she's a slut!!!" is just dumb. If he said that then for all he knows, the main character, fatty , and the two girls might all team up to push him off. Infact that would make more sense than the main character just punching osakabe once after Osakabe tried to kill kinuyo in front of everyone.
He was smart enough before to realise he should pretend to be normal , like when he groped the brown girl while she was asleep then stopped when she woke up.
And smart enough to play weak so that Kinuyo would get close to him so he could carry out his plan to kill Asuma.
But now he's suddenly acting really dumb and spastic. Even if he does want to kill kinuyo, obviously he would know that he shouldn't try to kill her again right then in front of everyone.
It's like the author is making Osakabe act dumb and crazy because the author is planning to kill him off quite soon and wants to use up all his ideas for interesting or funny things for Osakabe to do before then.
