About the water bottle fire thing. Apparently it can happen, well has according to SafeWorkSA. It would just be a lot of factors; sun, temperature, how the light is being refracted through a bottle with a clear liquid.

I won't say the sernario in the manga was 100% accurate, it definitely some that COULD happen given the right circumstances.

Let's be honest: it's highly unlikely (basically impossible) that what was depicted in this manga could happen in real life (in the same way, at least), we all know that. But again, this is a manga, so...whatever. Also the mangaka needed a fire, and this was the first thing he could think of. Maybe he heard that in particular (exceptional even!) conditions something like this could happen, but that doesn't mean it's plausible. Also, in Tokyo, in october, temperatures are way lower than august, so I think what was shown in the manga is simply impossibile.

Ambient temperature has nothing to do with it. Its purely about the angle that the light hits the bottle. Works the same way as a magnifying glass.

I wouldnt say no way. Buddy of mine has a tiny hole burned into his passenger seat from leaving a bottle of water sitting on it lol.

It doesn’t need to be. Most likely, it is made of some kind of fabric, like a synthetic fibre. The point is that demonstrates (if true) that it is possible in principle for water in a bottle to refract the sunlight in such a way as to set something on fire. If the seat was synthetic cloth, it would simply burn a hole, because synthetics do not burn well, but had it been cardboard, it might have simply burned up. I’m sure with some calculations, I could find a set of conditions where cardboard would catch fire reasonably, given that someone already linked a YouTube video to using a water bottle to start a fire. It’s just more about angle, intensity of light, cardboard colour, humidith, etc., not ambient air temperature.
