Those berries look like rowanberries. They taste very sour and bitter, but less so after the first frost night, so if she wanted to pick some the timing was perfect. They still won't taste good enough to eat, if you ask me at least . Where I'm from the rowan trees are quite common, so some make rowan jelly to be served with meat courses. They add lots of sugar and a bit of brandy in the process, but I must confess that I still prefer a spoon of lingonberry jam instead. I could easily pick tons of this stuff, but I let the birds have it instead and help them to survive the long winter here in Scandinavia.
