You'll have those that think he's the hero returned to them. Celebration time! And those that think he's the hero returned, to Rule them. My generations of service to the country, tossed aside by the fates because some rando walked into my country. Heroes engender awe, fear, and jealousy.

This ignores the fact that they could also believe Usato is Not an Other Worlder, and is just a human trying to trade on the name of the Hero. Which, I would not doubt they've had to deal with in the hundreds of years since the last Hero came by.

A fight ill remind you the beastfolk have a stake in as well cause i doubt they want to be destroyed or enslaved by demons either.

you aren't wrong but this place is literally a photocopy of japan with clothing, buildings, and cultures taken straight out of ancient japan. that other place was more like medieval europe which lets face it had not the best history when it came to not taking things that didn't belong to them. Also the king there was a pretty decent dude it was the general who was descended from the psycho sorcerer that was the problem. Besides, it would appear from the killing intent someone there already knows who and what he is.

The killing intent could have been directed at Amako and not Usato. She is the one returning and bringing a healer with her in order to save her mother, and this could interfere with someone’s plans. Usato stated that it is unusual that she has been asleep for two years, and it is either a curse or an illness. However, if no one else is sick, then could it really be an illness, or is it a curse? I would say it is a curse because someone wanted her out of the way. She is like Amako, a seer, and may have confronted someone about the future, and they put a curse on her. Just thinking out loud about a possible twist and turns that could occur in the story arc.

Usato is a straight up battle manga protagonist now. He can even sense killing intent and shit.

Oh, this has nothing to do with Usato directly. It's the thoughts, wishes, and fears of the Beast folk/other people. Before Talk no Jutsu corrects all the misunderstandings, you have people who will jump to conclusions on their own, out of their own personal fears, or prejudices.

Worse than a Three's Company plot, you will always have misunderstandings that become amplified, because of the scale and size of the possible problems. For the LotR example, is Aragorn, here to save the human race, or is he here to take the throne of Gondor. Inquiring minds want to know, will imagine, and make shit up. It's in the nature of humans to "predict" future events. And since the story is written by a human, you can easily project that type of thinking onto other characters, human or not.
