I always found Jadis rather pathetic from beginning to end.

A bit taken aback by how Jadis immediately knew about Earth being much younger from it's sun appearance alone considering the book was released in 1955.
I always thought that the knowledge of Red Giants being a late-stage star was a post-space war discovery, or at least only became a wide-spread one afterwards....

Isn't it because she comes from another world where because of magic, scientic discoveries may be in another order than on Earth. Or are you talking about the original author knowing it? The original author may have researched it.
