a bit sad they skipped the interaction of Makis Mom and his dad's new girlfriend and all... showing that he still has the signs of bad communication and all...

... but theeeere it is... thats the point...

He wanted a right to throw a tanctrum... the right to be a kid, that he loved both and wanted them together and not chose one of them... even if it was meaningless... ggs...

we can move on and super cute photo <3....

I was so sure even the current girlfriend was on the picture mmmm.... but welp
Fuck that homewrecker

.... listen boy, when mommy and daddy don't want to be together anymore.... sometimes there is nothing anyone can do to be together again...

Sure the mom still had feelings, but the dad moved on.... with or without that lover, chances are he wouldnt want to go back on that relationship... its not anyone's fault...

Actually the author tried hard to show that this was the kind of breakup that there were no villains. No one's fault... just a couple that ended up drifting apart and couldnt stand eachother anymore....

There is no homewercker nor anything.... if you want to put blames, the dad was rly bad at communicating his problems and the mom as well couldnt communicate what she needed without turning everything into a big fight because she was at her limit...

so yeah... thats how grown up relationship sometimes goes... chill out boy....

Probably one of the best explorations of familial relationships I've seen in this genre for this intended audience. I'm on the verge of tears.

The part before this where he mentioned that he felt like everyone else moved on while time stopped for him hit hard enough, but this was a whole suckerpunch.

Can no one of them read the room? Intruding on someone during their family moment is hella weird and obtuse, I can't understand how everyone here finds it wholesome.

Pretty much, WN is mostly a rough draft and LN is the definitive version. Manga and the upcoming anime is an adaptation that follows the LN for the most part. It depends on the adaptation if they change or omit stuff or stay faithful.

Kuranika (this series) manga for the most part is pretty faithful but there’s some changes that were not in the LN. Biggest one was probably the near end of cultural festival, most of the stuff doesn’t happened in a day like in the manga but in the LN/WN, it was multiple days. Most of the changes in the manga though are either they omit some of the small talk just for pacing and some inner dialogues became spoken dialogue instead.

The changes in this part iirc from the WN there’s much more small talk (Mom and Dad backtalk each other)
Do you know what chapter this is in the wn?
(also do you know if there was some more small talk between asanagi and mom/dad when they get introduced)

Should be Ch.103 in the WN.
As for the small talk, I mostly meant Mom and dad just bicker at each other and make the initial scene awkward and tense where the manga kinda skipped that. Also there's not much of Umi talking at that moment (aside from Umi saying jokingly to Maki about giving her friends from middle school a smacking if they do that again) , but it's mostly Maki with his parents.
