Hmmm... Not enough to say for sure what will happen, but seeing Merry is writing it like think, i think we could expect a plot twist

The tower is becoming more prominent. Maybe they're trying to create the "ultimate lifeform" (insert Kars' theme) since the mutation never existed before the tower (old man on train) as a "cure" to humanity. But that's just a theory!
