btw this may be weird to give a "un-asked-for" advice randomly in a comment but the thing MC did by writing in paper is a thing that exists for "problem solving" he is basically using the bigger problem he has and turning it into smaller problems that may require less work to solve or simply is easier to understand, this is something that is taught even in professional scenarios, well what i want to really say is...
if you got a problem that you are struggling with, try writing it in paper and following it with your thoughts and decomposing it into smaller-easier to solve problems that compose it, it works for everything be it love matters like MC's case or maybe something you need to do at work/life, it may look dumb but it helps greatly
