They've actually been around for a long, loooooong time, around 3000 B.C., so it's not unlikely.

It was said that after Earth was destroyed they banned all modern weapons like guns and nuclear weapons.

So what happened probably was, There were martial arts in ancient times and then modern weapons (guns) got invented, given how hard it is to create a martial master from 1 person yet all people can learn how to use guns people then opted just not to learn martial arts and just use guns.

So martial arts weakened and fell in popularity. People forgot how to do martial arts. Then after earth's destruction since they can no longer use modern weapons and nukes they had to re-learn martial arts.

Hence why their martial arts are weaker even if they are in the future.

Look. I get why they made him young to appeal to younger audiences but honestly if you made him a more toned middle aged man with at least a beard i think a lot of people wouldn't mind as much.
Just saying the whole "Old man in a childs body" type of thing and the mind of an "Old stubborn man who wants respect" is really cringe.
