The author seems to like to be a bit over the top dramatic sometimes, including his depiction of villains as more "stereotypical" bad guys that are downright despicable, perverted and violent people.
...but as long as it's not the main focus of the series, I can tolerate it even if I think it's pretty unnecessary.
As an aside, even in his more recent works, Umezawa still has more explicit erotic scenes in his works (in which the main theme is not about erotica). It's just his style, you can say. (See:
