@bidorchar more then a few schools i was in growing up where like this in a way, at least in regard to teachers not caring about students. most of those schools cared more about their appearance then actually teaching and while there where a few teachers that actually cared about teaching their students, most of em where just there for the measly pay check. to make matters worse, parents ended up having to much influence over the school boards because of this resulting in the anti-bullying nonsense which is telling kids to tell teachers that their getting bullied rather than teaching them to stand up for themselves or at least defend themselves which tends to result in the pattern of either
1. kid gets bullies → kids tells teacher dose nothing → kid gets bullied more → kid gets scared or fed up and brings a weapon to school → kid severely injuries or kills the bullies and gets punished for it.
2. kid gets bullies → kids intervenes → kid gets bullied even more due to the teacher inadvertently causing a triangulation → kid gets scared or fed up and brings a weapon to school → kid severely injuries or kills the bullies and gets punished for it.
3. 1 or 2, but without the kid even trying to fend for themselves at the end which results in them either becoming sub servant or suicidal.
needless to say, there are going to be scenarios where things don't go according to those patterns like a different bully appearing and bulling the bully, possibly even saving the first victim in the process
parents are supposed to teach their kids to, or make sure that they can fend for themselves. instead we have kids who want to escape from the bulling and don't have the skills needed to actually fight someone and end up relying on tools.
