Not sure how that imprint on the tarp would've been made but I'm just skeptical that this isn't a set up for a later twist where Shimada just kinda shows up at the right time to fix/make worse whatever happens next.

yeah first thing i thought is that it looked like shimada shed her old self after awakening her real power and what was left was similar to a snake's shedded skin or an empty cocoon

I'm wondering if it's the skin of darkness-ish outer layer that Shimada has when she's awake and in business mode? So topless leotard & stakes Shimada (who we see at the chapter opening) is still inside, battling Shop Valley's employer (or having a peyote trip, w/e).
Yikes, what if Shimada (spikey girl) is the one who killed the last Sanko, and wished to become Death - the triangle showed up for that other alien who got a wish out of Sanko's bones, right?
