If they just explained why they told the boy that he only had to focus on counting, it wouldn't sound as harsh and it would show they are right to be teachers, right now it doesn't feel like that.
Same with the lady that only says unaware without explaining. I know she will explain in future chapters, but introducing the story like that is just to manipulate us to keep reading and to bring fake tension, and makes me think these characters are mean when they are not, they're just represented as such.
I don't like it.
