Wow... I think many of us can understand the oldest sister. Reading and watching in English and learning through that is pretty much a given to any non-native English speaker who likes anime and manga. I talk a lot about my brother who can just barely understand simple English that he should just watch movies with subtitles or read an easy to understand book but his reaction is pretty much like mc-kun...
But his reaction of genius just because she learned English in that way... so are we all geniuses? I doubt it XD

@timesen Learning and speaking English fluently are two different things... Speaking English fluently in Japan is still a big thing. Only university students are able to do it and only few of them at that so it is not expected for a high-school first year student to be able to do it and pretty impressive for a second year high school student to speak in such fluent English... (If you don't believe me search for high school students in Japan trying to speak English on YouTube and see for yourself)
