People are mad that it's the avenue the author took. They're not saying Okarun shouldn't be jealous, just that these arcs are annoying (and this one was done already). Okarun can become more assertive without one of these standard jealousy arcs. He was already becoming more assertive and so was she. This is clearly padding and when the audience can see the inner workings of the narrative so clearly, they naturally lose some immersion.

Exactly, it was pretty good the first time and, obviously, it's realistic to be jealous of another dude cuddling the girl you like, but if they do it again the same 'Okarun getting pissed off at Jiji and going to become stronger' way - lazy writing. If they do it in the 'Okarun proving himself assertively' sort of way, I would be up for it.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing Okarun x Bamora (I hope she becomes the main), Jiji x Momo - but we all know Jiji isn't getting any.
