I think this whole story revolves around Gotou falling in love with Agawa, she gives him awful advice based on the life she’s chosen to deal with some sort of issue, that advice bothered Gotou but he leaned into it, he’s incapable of dealing with his feelings on Agawa and is acting out because he’s upset, and Shigemi is currently the only one who’s noticed.

Maybe she finds it endearing, maybe she feels bad for him, or maybe she’ll end up getting close to him which will shock Agawa. I think Gotou will either drop the other girls and get with someone other than Agawa, drop them all and get with Agawa, or he’ll lock them all down including Agawa.

That’s a pretty good read of things I’d say. Gotou fell for the first girl he fucked, which is only natural, but Agawa being who she is both didn’t want him too close, but at the same time didn’t have the heart to push him off entirely. So she tried to “help” him but instead inadvertently poisoned his relationships with other girls (Akito specifically), and in the end left him broken and confused.
And due to her own baggage of wanting a “high status male” to dote on her above all, Shigemi has probably come to see Gotou with his myriad talents and troubles with girls as a “fix-er-upper” she can claim off Agawa if she puts the work in.

Fair enough, after seeing what you posted I can understand why Shigechi would kiss him and when I think about it, their relationship is kinda similar to Naoto and Nagatoro's relationship at the beginning of the series.

Personally, I still feel Shigechi shouldn't do anything with Gotou but this just due to my personal feelings towards the two more than anything else.

It circles back to what I said about Shigemi a chapter or two ago, that she’s the character that Agawa is a subversion of (the pure gyaru love interest ala Nagatoro Hayase or Kitegawa Marin) played straight.
Actually, as an aside it’s interesting to note that all of the heroines so far have actually been subversions of popular romance manga archetypes.
Agawa = the pure gyaru main love interest, who is actually a slut and fairly toxic addition to the MC’s life instead of uplifting.
Akito = the demure and pure as the snow childhood friend who is always the designated loser in any romance plot, except she actually got what she wanted and even got corrupted by it.
Shiina = the prim and proper and traditionally feminine ojousama, who is actually also an unhinged slut with as much baggage as the FemC
And now Shigemi = perhaps a double subversion, the pure gyaru played straight as a subversion of Agawa the subversion of the pure gyaru.

You mean she's gonna be like him at the beginning of the story? That'd be a pretty cool reveal, that's she's never done it with anyone, been putting up a facade (Potential reason could be the typical "I don't like people who care about virginity", which he falls into, he also probably doesn't care about stds or relationship stability)

Then like someone else said, his love changes towards Shigemi, then fmc becomes jealous cause he's back to how he used to be and fmc is now literally hearing from Shigemi what she used to talk about

Be real though, only expect more rent-a-peak regressions
This fr took a page out of mushoku tensei with mc ed arc caused by fmc leaving (which, if it's gonna copy even more, isn't fixed by leaving fmc returning, but like romantic feelings being rekindled with different fmc)

I still really can't believe 1 million copies bought though, fucking weird, can someone get sale stats on volumes?

Well it’s only a hunch based off of how flustered Shigemi gets when she’s confronted by physical contact with the opposite sex, and by sexual situations in general. Not exactly the behavior of someone who is apparently as sexually experienced and confident as Agawa. We’ll see if the author actually did soft-retcon her initial characterization in the next few chapters I guess.

As for the second point, I think you’re bang on, because it’s not as if Gotou is stone cold enough to tell Shiina, Agawa, and especially Akito to go kick rocks just because he’s become “steady” with Shigemi. Guaranteed his lingering attachments will fuck over whatever he has with heroine number 4.

Probably next to impossible to get a full breakdown of those sales figures, but as these figures from one aggregate show, interest in this series is fairly consistently strong as of volume 7 even if it isn’t growing like it did up to volume 5.

Completely agree, there's already been a chapter retcon, so early story could mean dirt
Fmc being bi was retcon, next reveal she'll be a pedo if title is literal, she wasn't shown or mentioned to be bi until it was convenient
Funny if there's a retcon realising "Wait, if everyone's a whore, nobody is", probably what made the first chapter retcon, and proof an ending/the entire story hasn't been planned at all, garbage writing through and through

I remember a Far cry 5 video essay talking about how everything blew up and was crazy, so it felt like nothing was crazy
Also the incredibles movie villain motive, everyone is super, so no one is

Haha, mushoku tensei ending ftw, cause mc and fmc are just such a catch, they def have herpes, more likely to develop dementia/alzheimers, would be cool, amnesia in care home arc
