I feel like the mangaka suddenly changed his mind about the old guy stuff because there's no way we suddenly went from 'Seimei was here dealing with the old guy getting his karmic backlash' to 'Old guy actually took over his grandson and is in contact with the replaced' naturally.

doubt it, i think Kubo's birth and the replaced will be seperate arcs, plus theres taisais main body to deal with as well

i imagine at minimum one arc where Kubo is about to be born and the scooby gang races to prevent it either they suceed then another arc of them dealing with the heavy hitters behind the replaced or they fail but largely wipe out the replaced in the process then one arc of coming up with a plan for the completed kubo

My headcannon is that Seimei already put his own countermeasures in place. I'm sure as hell that Seimei already foreseen that Sogen will pull a fast one on him and will take over his grandson body. He goes above and beyond to help defeat Taisai and even predicted Shuten Doji revival. There must be more to what he means by "power structure is changing".
