Did it skip some stuff? The jump between chapter 1 and 2 seems quite large, to the point there seems to be missing content.
The previous chapter was only 11 pages long, so that seems to only support the theory.

On another note, assuming the fiance doesn't do anything too crazy, I don't think he's evil. In fact, his goal is almost the same as the MC's, it's just his methods are a lot more sleazy and selfish. He's ashamed of his country bumpkin background, and also imitated those around himself to improve his image, and he wants to become more 'sophisticated' to grow, have a more enjoyable life, and more confidence - it mirror's the MC quite a bit, and it makes me hope he redeems himself (though they should still split).
...Of course he's going to go full malicious evil at some point, as is the cliche, but I can hope for a bit more depth. :dogkek:

^^^ I agree. It’s the first time in awhile in this genre where I stopped and thought, “oh yeah, the ‘bad guy’ here is really just a teenage kid”. And I’m pretty sure teenagers have gotten overly caught up in doing stupid and occasionally cruel stuff to feel like they fit in (….and/or hormones) since the dawn of time. Reminds me of how I saw a lot of basically decent folks get absolutely carried away their first year of college/freedom. Like. He’s a dumbass, but I don’t think he’s inherently irredeemable as a person. So I’m hoping for him to get a chance to set himself straight….though, yeah, I fear the tropes will send him straight down psychopath lane 😩
