I wonder if Genno stating his feeling after being revived is more of a:
1. "Wow, I really could've died, before getting my chance to open up" OR
2. "I'm a deadman walking anyway, let's bury those feelings until I fall".
Whatever may be the case, I like that development a lot. Irako, hating samurais, adapted much more features he hated in them into his persona. Not even sure if he realizes that.
To compare, Genno was dragged through the mud, learning and feeling what Irako's life was before. Both adapted to their situations well enough, but I think Genno's lesson of humility and harsh conditions of living in a realm that hates you for wrong reasons will be MORE beneficial to him.
Irako might fall - I can see it now. Constant glazing all around him and the respect he always wanted might dull his mind. We will see, how indulgent he really is in what he's been getting since the grudge match. If it's just a facade and he remained focused and hungry - we have great fight ahead of us.
