Ah, the tired trope of an idiot hero party consisting of the simpleton hero, the brainless brawn, the obligatory dolled up bitch, a cute and kind girl with no apparent flaws, and the boring protagonist who does the real heavy lifting (literally, in this case). I wonder how this is going to innovate on the formula to stand out from the usual schlock. Demon King had a cool design at least; you don't get cool old dudes as the bad guy very often, either because they're a fake final boss or they suddenly become young and generically attractive. Good on the Demon King for keeping his cool old man look up until his pitiful death to a fodder "hero" party.

Hold on, isn't this that "MC is a thief class and gets betrayed" WN that was pretty much abandoned back in 2020 after the LN adaptation flopped really hard?

I'm talking about a certain WN with an infuriating Thief Class MC who became Demon Lord after being betrayed, with a stupid "No Human Killing" rule, which drives the story in frustrating directions, yet things always work out in his favor, and you could 100% notice the author's poor writing skills. Overall, the story was heavily carried by the side characters.

I guess the publisher wants to give it another try, as we are currently seeing a surge in adaptations of this kind of work?
To be honest, with heavy editorial interference, the story does have a bit of potential.

Damn, I almost got swept away by the entire comments that belittle this manga! Even 1 review on MAL not recommended this manga. All of them not liking the idea of "no killing" rule, while the main role of this MC is a fucking Phantom Thief who steal everything for his own gain. They quick to judge just based on 3 chapters and drop it, a shallow mindset indeed (or edgy boy mindset that want to kill everything, cliché edgy mindset etc etc)

Glad I continue reading and satisfied by MC's decision, the revenge is satisfying (for the king and the 3 idiot heroes). He was part of a band of thieves when he was human, and he stick to his core as a thief even after becoming Demon Lord (he stole from corrupt people and distributed it to the people he cared about). He didn't kill indiscriminately, because what can be stolen from a dead person?

He steal everything -> then spare the target, let them live in humiliation (they who once had everything, was powerful and arrogant, now loses everything and must live in misery for the rest of their life) -> even if they regain their power and turn against him again, he just steal everything from them again, the cycle repeat. It's incredibly satisfying, and I like this manga.
