It's interesting that ran, who usually is more action-first hot head, not only didn't chase after Conan nor ask if he is OK after learning that the scene was extremely gorey for a child like him to be exposed to. Though I would chalk that up to the shock of this whole incident making her like this.

More like author needing to make it so this case is not closed as soon as the murderer attack Ran and get their asses handed over to them immediately. Ran was showed on many case to be strong enough to punch or kick through metal on several occasions, right back at chapter one. Even keeping her cool in the face of danger. So yeah, her being written like that doesn't really make much sense...
