well i can think of two reasons, one is her entire reason for being in their is just breaking the record time, which killing the unicorn might achieve even assuming that they've been fighting it another hour or two (5 hours of grinding + 1-2 hour killing hidden boss = beating the 8 hour record by an hour after all) and he's stalling that, and the other is it's a level 10 hidden boss, they're all around level 4 (except his slime, which is lvl 9 but she doesn't know about that.) so if it could recover to even half hp they are potentially screwed.
