I don't normally read sports manga. This is one of just two I'm currently reading (the other, my favourite, being The Days of Diamond). But I like the narrative style and the character interactions - though Gaku and Aoi's bickering is a little cliché.

In this chapter, I can appreciate how Kyougoku's strategy to improve teamwork is subtle but effective. Pairing Gaku and Shou up is probably because of their ongoing friction, and it forces them to settle their differences. I wonder how he's going to address Gaku and Aoi's old couple dynamic.

By the way, gotta love Shou and Itsuki giving Kyougoku the finger, and Ryuuya giving him a thumbs-down, all to his back on page 10.

Another interesting detail: Kyougoku calls everyone by their family name, including Gaku, when addressing them directly. But when talking to the whole team, as in announcing the pairs, Youta used his given name. I guess Kyougoku acknowledges that the name "Shishiya" is a sore spot for Gaku.
