I wish there'd be a notification mode for only getting notifications for chapters that I haven't read yet.

Groups redoing a manga leads to an overly cluttered manga updates page.

This mode should be selectable per manga.

Unlikely to happen given how vague the term "new" is. Also how does this interact with things like languages multiple groups etc.

Example:
if a group finished all the main chapters and then went back and did some extras are those extras "new"?

If a group translates an already completed series into a different language are those chapters "new"?

It is not new, if you already read that chapter. As an example:
Ch1 read
Ch2 read
->
Ch3 is new
Ch1.5 is new
Ch1 group B is not new
Ch2 other language is not new

I like the suggestion, but I foresee problem when chapters get deleted and reuploaded

There could be a read flag associated with each chapter number, rather than just each groups individual version of the chapter. Then when an alternative version of an already read chapter is released it could be hidden from 'Latest Updates' OR displayed differently like, greyed out text, or a 'You have read alternate version' label. This would also work for reuploads. But it may still be a problem if a chapter/volume number gets changed or if a multi-part chapter gets combined into one (ex c5.1 & c5.2 become c5). Perhaps read flag could be linked to a unique ID tied to each chapter number.

Another simpler option would be to track series 'progress' (Highest number volume & chapter read), then just display it somewhere on the 'Latest Updates' entry. This way reader can tell at a glance if they may have read it, with out have to check check series page. Though again, if chapter/volume number changes it may be an issue. (I'm not suggesting this progress value be used to hide anything as it obviously be an issue when older omake chapters get added)

Some mangas are popular enough to have more than a scanlator working on it so you can get another chapter showing as an update even tough it's a chapter you already read, sometimes in the same language but by a different scanlator, sometimes due being in another language (I have 3 languages enabled since I can read them and some mangas are never translated to a particular language or even have gaps that can be filled if read in another language, like Major 2nd).
My suggestion is that there's an option in settings to not show updates for chapters you already read, even if it's in another language. And it'd be better as an option since some people may read some chapters in a language they're not very comfortable with because their main choice is not receiving updates as fast as another language and they might like to re-read in another language.
