I don’t really get why the emperor is getting rid of his eyes like won’t his musical ability suffer if he can’t see suddenly????

He's a tyrant obsessed with Aehwa the flower - his wife I think. He doesn't want anyone to see her - literally, so he plucks out the eyes of the musician he appointed to play music for her.

You're right his ability should suffer - at the very least cause he's just had such a horrible thing happen to him.

I think, from the prologue, this is going to be a revenge story.
