I imagine it's supposed to be a panel showing updates from groups I subscribed to, but it doesn't. Is it planned functionality? Also I noticed that after following a number of groups, those I followed first disappeared - leading me to think there's a limit to how many can be followed, and if that number is exceeded, the old ones are replaced by new ones.
Does "following" a group do anything and why is there a limit to it?

There's no pagination on that page yet (and has been a thing for quite some time)
I.e your follows aren't disappearing, it's just that since it can only display 10 and doesn't give you an option to show the rest when you pass that amount of follows it looks like they disappear
But yes, basically just a list of groups and no updates and whatnot, no idea when it'll be worked on and what the plan is with it
