So her absentee father racked up debt and therefore she has to work there? in what world does that make sense? Heck there wasn't even any blackmail "work or we will kill your father or whatever", this part of the setup is idiotic and easily fixable - just have her be the one who racked up the debt. It makes even less sense because they kidnapped the rest of the children just cause, so why did they have to come up with a scheme (real or not) to kidnap her specifically??? This part has to be rewritten in the serialization... sorry, I still can't get over of how pointless this setup is, she could just start work at the manor because she needs a job, and servants jobs are the only ones humans get or something. she could additionally be gritting her teeth and not quitting because she needs the money to send back to the children in the village. There are endless possibilities all of which are less dumb and more engaging than the one they went with.
