you can say the same with frieren in its early chapters... not necessarily a bad thing imo and it might pick up at some point.

Finally, they changed clothes! It's funny that it's only now been mentioned that mushrooms have bodies similar to humans, on the inside (my theory about the cursed forest doesn't seem so far-fetched!). Since i started watching this series, i've never eaten them the same way again...~

I liked the tsundere bit of beniten, but really though the manga never really had a huge storyline to focus on and the worldbuilding is pretty nice. I expect it will all wrap up nicely in the end, and just be kinda episodic for a while. thanks for the tl.

From the start the manga has been about drawing parallels with the history of our society. We only have a goal set up as an excuse for the manga to have characters to move things forward and build the world, also we already know plenty of our main cast so there's no reason to focus on them again and this isn't a battle shounen to make anyone evolve out of nowhere

Well I must have missed that, because I only saw a story about a girl that happened to be a "Poisonous" mushroom that lost her home when, unbeknownst to her, they all tried to kill her.

Not really, idk what you expect from the story, but for my it was exactly this. It's obviously how this girl grows closer to the person who killed her parents, because is the only one who is caring for her. And well, this type of story usually talks about other stuff because is world building, and idk about you but there is so many question that needs answer. And remember, this is chapter like what, 20? (they're using the chapter #.# but i will not bough that) anyway, give it time

I'm still thinking, what are your expectations from this manga, like you expect a shōnen? Or what? I'm really curious, because I don't think this story gives that expression. And yeah, 20 chapters are not really something big, I don't know why you're saying like I'm comparing it with a manga with 700+ chapters

I expect something other than a grim "Through The Looking Glass". They set up a whole thing with her entire family being killed, the dynamic between "poison mushrooms" and "edible mushrooms", they set up an unusual revenge plot, and now, after all that work, we're bumming around the world, with the main cast taking a back seat to their own story. And you keep mentioning the 20 chapters like they're nothing But most manga get cancelled or conclude by this point.

plenty of stories dont really follow the original summary, what matters more is if they story they do tell is any good.

looks like beniten is evolving into full on tsundere, she's seeing how most other people treat poison shrooms, that there are some good and bad on both sides but theres a lot more doubt to tsukiyo having lied, she may even be just telling herself she's still after revenge to have a reason to stay with him.
