The elf bartender is incredible. Her character is so low key and the way they set her environment as an underground bar that usually doesn’t get customers is so good.

I disagree, I think it's an aspect of it, but the main hook of the series (to me) is his everyday actions that he enjoys, and him asserting his individuality. The thing is, he sees having a relationship as having someone else constantly stepping on his feet and him having to worry about theirs, but he has already described his perfect idea of a relationship in the series - having someone that has their own things going on and gives him plenty of space; essentially just someone to come home to.

This makes it look like either the elf, or the musician would be good partners, as both are more about their own work and lives than they are about relationships and love, or the MC - whereas the guild girl is a prime example of someone who the MC would not want to get involved with (being all about love and relationships, and obsessing over the MC).
So I think MC forming a relationship, and showing the type of relationship that would best suit a person like him, would be the ideal cap off to the series.

But that's just how I see it - I also wouldn't mind if he does just stay single.
Like I said, the main hook is him asserting his individuality and doing as he pleases, and him staying single definitely continues that.

I think the MC himself would tell you that having to come home to anybody is a constraint he doesn't want.

To put it another way: even if his "partner" has other things going on in their lives, the MC will be obligated to make some sort of arrangement work. His entire reason for being single is basically that he doesn't want anybody else to be able to dictate what he can did with his life; even if his partner were busy all the time, he still can't do whatever he wants with his time and money because he'll be accountable to somebody else.

But do you preserve as much food, when some artifact from a dungeon can stop time on stored items, or an Ice Mage can freeze your whole storehouse for a reasonable fee? This is just smoking for flavor.

Edit: For the record I mean is there any reason to work on preservation methods beyond the bare minimum of salting, or like air drying, maybe soaking in honey or alcohol, or even honey alcohol.

I think the MC himself would tell you that having to come home to anybody is a constraint he doesn't want.

I was actually referring to a few chapters back where the MC tells his friend's eventual wife what his (and therefore his friend's) ideal type of relationship would be, and the MC even says he wouldn't mind a relationship like that one day; or something akin to that.
So it doesn't seem like he's completely opposed to having a relationship, but it has to meet specific criteria.
