I think it's supposed to take in between Trace (another spinoff/sequel? with a diff protag) and the main Brutal series? he does look a bit younger (unless it's the art style), they do call him 'chief' already so it's not too far in the past.

I think its a sequel to brutal satsujin? He has a pet in chapter 2, which came from Brutal Satsujin.
