I assume the writer had to think about which gender would suit the protag on who the person he loved was. Personally, I like it! Hope we can get a backstory chapter

The main chara in trace was the older? brother of the guy who died, apparently dan was part of some bully group that lead to his suicide or so, he became a forensic analysis and tried to get dan's dna

at this point he's prolly more murder sexual if he's like "I wish i could've killed you myself" Although now/ the main series has him 'punishing' criminals as opposed to hurting guilty ppl (don't know if he had collateral damage of innocent bystanders getting caught up in it but yeah)
