I am not sure the accuracy of this but after all these years I just have a realisation that the Ruffian is probably a stressed out students about to take university exams or simply from his studies. The fact that he wears his students uniform all the time seems to suggest thay he is studying for a prolonged time and it is implied his abusive behavior is a recent development. The fact that Beso willing to exchange places seems to suggest that the happy times are indeed happy for both of them and all along Beso only want his owner to be happy
