I didn't mind Gohan getting a new transformation and I understand Beast was supposed to look like him as SSJ2 as a kid, but my god the hair looks so bad.

Oh god, that was crap! Like a bad fan remake from the fight between gohan and cell. Was it written by the guys who made bio broly movies? And I don't even point out that gohan should not be able to transform anymore, after the old kai did that powerup dance to him. But I guess, "who cares?". If dbs really goes to that new low standard from now on, I guess it'll be time for me to drop it.

FFS why not have him research on his form. He can study the spirit control and ultra instinct from the boomers and maybe use the dragonballs to get his tail back. Wasn't he the base of many mixed breed shonen protags to come later?

Bah. It's such an unearned transformation and doesn't have an explanation to what it is. Presumably, this is Gohan's "Ultra Instinct/Ego" but it doesn't really fit him. He dosen't know any of the "god" transformations so it's not clear if this is some Sayian thing or what. Mystic was a lot better IMO, because it was his HUMAN side that was represented, highlighting how he was different from his father.

Love seeing Gohan use Special Beam Cannon though. That was a nice touch in the story.

EDIT: I don't remember in the film but do Krillin and 18 help in this scene? If not, I'm glad they have something to do with helping win this time.

it's not that he couldn't transform, but that transforming was completely unnecessary since his base form's power was boosted to the point where his existing transformations have no effect.
