I don't understand the high rating. Every development is rushed, and the art is sloppy in almost every panel. I'm 28 chapters in and I can still barely tell you anything about these characters.

It feels like the whole series is in service to fights and big moments, which would be alright if they had any level of buildup or gravitas, but most big moments take up less than one chapter, and "fights" usually consist of an amount of panels I can count on one hand. Hell, most of them are literally just two.

Strangely, the titular "dragon child" is barely a character and mostly just serves as a plot device. The real main character is the major, but she... just isn't that likeable. In a lot of respects she feels like a store-brand Tanya.

Also, yeah, having the first big bad try to sexually assault a child, maybe not the best choice.

I'd rate 15/10 if I could. It's impossible to name what's great about this manga because everything is too good. The story is awesome. The characters are awesome. The art is super cute. It's hard to say which is best amongst the three of them, but if I had to choose the story just barely comes out on top.

...I don't even know anymore. The ending is just... I couldn't understand it but I did "understand" it. Plot just went hyper.

Regardless it's a (slightly) surprisingly decent story with some stuff and some plot holes that are... pretty much unexplainable. If you read it until the end you would know, otherwise it's kind of hard to explain.

All in all it had great potential, the ending is a bit non-sense, a lot of plot points became holes.

And also I guess the joke "hey, everyone dies in the end" is something i can easily say without "spoiling" it..... the more i try to explain the more i fail.

But the characters are awesome ig.
