This week on 'everyone's a lying asshole', we get an off-page train suicide but no alien murder or Nomamoto, and a bunch of plot points that may or may not be true. At least dopey-looking alien dude is halfway likeable.

Yeah this part completely lost me. I mean I get it from a narrative flip perspective, but it loses all verisimilitude right there.

To be fair he said giant meteorite. In fiction the scale could very well be something beyond highly advanced nukes can destroy.

That is not a problem, just follow the "Armageddon" scenario.

Land a crew, place several of them at various weak points in the meteorite and detonate all of them at the same time.

Even if it's size of a small continent the meteorite would break and the rest should be easy pickings. Unless that meteorite is the size of small moon there is no problem for 100 or 200 MT nukes that we can produce and use today.

he has a habit of playing our ”heros” for his own agenda so I wouldn’t trust him. Best bet would be to toss him into a sack and throw it Into the river.

Knowing his history, that blondie is not to be trusted. Not about his story. It may be right, but let's assume there would be a meteor (that ironically the aliens can't destroy while it is said that they could destroy the one falling on earth), what can they do with the bomb? How can a bomb destroy aliens in large quantities?

His motivation is just to piss people off impartially, so he doesn't think about saving Senoh City. He only thinks how to make people angry with the bombs, be it alien or not.
