Yeah this part completely lost me. I mean I get it from a narrative flip perspective, but it loses all verisimilitude right there. That story is kind of sus... Are you telling me that a civilisation that has mastered FTL travel and colonized several different planets cannot blow up a meteorite?
If we had ships like that we could very well do it with our current nukes, and these guys should have weapons that are much above our own in terms of power.
Yeah, I am calling bulls**t on that story, just let the alien dude kill the guy and save yourselves some trouble.
To be fair he said giant meteorite. In fiction the scale could very well be something beyond highly advanced nukes can destroy. That story is kind of sus... Are you telling me that a civilisation that has mastered FTL travel and colonized several different planets cannot blow up a meteorite?

That is not a problem, just follow the "Armageddon" scenario. To be fair he said giant meteorite. In fiction the scale could very well be something beyond highly advanced nukes can destroy.
Your giving these aliens too much creditThat is not a problem, just follow the "Armageddon" scenario.
Land a crew, place several of them at various weak points in the meteorite and detonate all of them at the same time.
Even if it's size of a small continent the meteorite would break and the rest should be easy pickings. Unless that meteorite is the size of small moon there is no problem for 100 or 200 MT nukes that we can produce and use today.
