I don't remember if he solved the problem of scrolls burning when he tries to create stuff, so I don't think the elixir is a option

Yeah, I have a hard time buying the struggle as it's presented, even just maintaining a circle of swords and pushing forward would've probably worked out better.

Akira being extremely inexperienced is showing here. It's actually depicted quite well. He doesn't really know what to do, especially when the princess and others aren't around. He would have probably done quite well in an organised battle where he would be surrounded by friendly people, but now, first time fighting the Oder and in a totally chaotic situation, he's basically proceeding following trial and error, as much as his imagination allows.

Suddenly summoning a copy of someone present is pretty wild, though. I don't remember if I've seen that before. Naturally characters creating clones of themselves if quite commonplace, but this is something else.

This is what has been pissing me off with this manga.
There have been countless times where everything would be solved just by using a fucking elixir....but the author has completely stopped using them for some bullshit reason...
Incoming rant/spoilers

Even later on where everyone's lives are on the line and many people end up incapacitated by injuries or overuse of stamina/magic power and could have been easily fully restored via the use of a few Elixirs, the MC just won't use them...he'll cry and say idiotic things like "my magic power is nearing its limit" but won't use a skill that costs him zero magic power and refills all his magic stores
