Is there a Translation error or bad writing from the author? Cold said I will take the head of the singularity and then later he is surprised that the enemy is a singularity.

I don't think this is really even a question, tbh. Don't forget that the whole basis of this series is the MC powering up by chugging the infinite supply of elixirs he has access to. In this series all it's been explicitly stated that elixirs do afaik is hp/mp recovery (and max increase), but elixirs are commonly magical cure-alls in fantasy.

So this plot development's less trying to create "oh no, will Katya make it" BS drama, and more foreshadowing "oh no, Akira will have to spill the beans a bit on the true extent of his 'summon' ability when he just pulls an elixir out of nowhere to save her". They also made sure at the start of this arc to bring up the time Akira used an elixir in front of Medisfina as a kid, to show that she had suspicions about what he actually did there but wasn't actually sure what he did, so it's likely to come up again.
I think it was mentioned in the chapters before that after his mana nerves has been partly repaired he can no longer create an elixir as the scroll burned because of his power. Maybe the all you want elixir was just too powerful.

Bad writing is one thing, but this isn't really what's happening either here imo. This guy showing up and going "oho look at me I'm so much more powerful than you puny heroes, I'm a singularity!" is pretty much something that was teased in the first arc of the manga. Akira himself was hinted as being a singularity even all the way back then, and the "shadows" mentioned in the backstory here were too, with his maid being one of them (who sealed his power to keep him away from all this BS she knew was out there).

So this isn't like a series like DBZ or whatever where they just invent new power levels that trump the previously established max, this is all stuff that's been going on since the start, along with heroes being established as being kinda watered down from their original bloodline.
Yes it is not like others where even stronger enemies never mentioned before appear out of nowhere. We are just diving deeper in the backstory.
