She's in a desperate situation where it seemed as though a man was forcing himself upon her, and she refuses to protect herself because she could hurt her hand compared to what could be far worse. Then she refuses to play the violin because of pride despite the fact that she is essentially presented with the underlying threat of execution, torture or otherwise if she's a spy.
Okay. I take it that circumstances and weird rules of the world will somehow save her and that the plot will just be convoluted enough to turn this into some sort of romantic triangle between her, the commander who nearly assaulted her and the strange man who ran away after just blurting out that playing music would save her life somehow, which may indicate that music somehow has power in this world.
Sure. Okay. Whatever.
