It is. Polygamy just means multiple spouses, while polygyny is specifically multiple wives. Polyandry is having multiple husbands, but it's so rare, both in fiction and in real life (even leaving aside the cultural reasons, there's simple biology to consider: multiple women can be impregnated by the same man, but multiple men can't impregnate the same woman), that polygyny and polygamy are used interchangeably.
