Not gonna comment on the tactical part, but as far as the inspirational speech goes... You do know the "inspirational speeches" politicians give, right?
The one I'll never forget was a text book fallacy (random city name cause reasons): "Because the people of Manhattan...ARE THE PEOPLE OF MANHATTAN!!!!!".
Cheers were uttered, screams were made, panties were wet. Politician won elections.
