This is good. I used to struggle with Mizaki's issues a lot, and I ended up coming to the conclusion that at the most basic level, everyone is just trying to satisfy their own desires. Often, our wills align, and we are able to form mutualistic relationships with each other. But that's all they are. Mutual. Everything is always done for oneself, first and foremost. While compassion seems like it involves a lot of self-sacrifice, the person doing it always does it to gain something. A lot of these motivations are innocent enough and don't detract from the relationship, like someone may simply not want to be alone, but they always exist. At All Times, Everyone Is Doing As They Please For Their Sake. Therefore, you should just relax and do what you love. There are plenty of good things in this world. You should just try to enjoy your own life. And if somebody gets in the way of that, it's fine to just stick up for yourself. Fighting is okay because both of you are just trying to do what you want.
I have a hunch that this is where the story is ultimately going to go. Kaho embodies this principle, and she's so much happier by comparison, because she is able to just live her life with no concern for others.
